As someone who has tried to gain weight all my life I’ve learned a number of things in the process. 

I think it’s safe to say that the body’s metabolism is a key factor to either gaining weight fast or not gaining weight at all.

Not many people are aware that exercise is also a vital part of weight gain. It doesn’t fall under weight loss alone. 

Some of the exercises to gain weight include:

Push ups

  • Lay on the ground face down.
  • Put your arms at your sides and your hands shoulder-width apart on the ground, palms facing down.
  • Lifting your torso slowly will cause your arms to fully extend. So that your body forms a straight line, keep your legs and back straight.
  • Reposition yourself such that your nose is almost parallel to the ground.
  • Repetition is encouraged as often as is comfortable.
Push ups

Squats

  • Your feet should be spaced apart by hip-width when you stand upright.
  • Flex your abdominal muscles while placing your hands on your hips.
  • When you’re ready to sit down, start lowering yourself to the floor solely with your legs.Once you’re in a seated posture, make sure your thighs are parallel to the floor. Try to keep your upper body still.
  • Return to your starting position by raising yourself.
  • Repeat as often as possible
Hips and butt workouts

Lunges

  • Flex your abdominal muscles while standing tall.
  • Lean forward and extend one leg as if you were taking a step before bending your knees to a 90-degree angle.
  • To raise yourself back up to your starting posture, apply pressure to your heel.
  • As often as you feel comfortable while standing on one leg, repeat.
  • Continue with the opposite leg.
Lunges work out

Overhead press 

  • Put your hands on the bar shoulder-width apart.
  • Raise the bar so that it is level with your shoulders and just above your front chest.
  • Lift the bar above you gradually until your arms are completely straight. Keep your elbows locked while shrugging with your shoulders raised.
  • Slowly lower the bar back to shoulder height.
  • Repeat
